Howden War Memorial
Howden War Memorial
The war memorial for Howden With Asselbyis is in the form of a hexagonal stone column with mythical figures in the style of an elaborate Eleanor cross. The upper portion is surmounted by a cross, and the lower octagonal portion has a recess on each side containing a figure of a Saint. Each side of the plinth is detailed with blind tracery, and mounting stone tablets carry the inscriptions and the names of the fallen from Howden, Howdendyke, Asselby, Kilpin and Skelton from World War I, World War II and one soldier killed in Afghanistan in 2007.

(See SE7428 : Howden and District War Memorial Dedication and SE7428 : Howden War Memorial Detail for more detailed views).

The memorial is Grade II-listed (List entry Number: 1346731 LinkExternal link Historic England).
