Ashton Avenue Bridge [2]
Built in 1906 as a combined road and railway swing bridge. It is 170 metres long and weighs some 1,500 tons. Last swung in 1936 it became fixed in 1951 when it was welded closed. The road deck was removed in 1965 and the bridge was used by freight trains until 1985. Recently refurbished to be part of a guided busway system.
