Topping rushes near Ardchoirc
In north-east England they would be cutting for rushes but as kindly pointed out by Colin Grice
Link the tractor has a topper on the back rather than mower - which mulches tall vegetation such as the soft rushes which would otherwise tend to take over substantial areas. It won't be picked up as hay, though in the past, rushes were cut for bedding or even thatch.
