The Four Shire Stone
The Four Shire Stone
The Four Shire Stone as the name suggests stood on the boundary of four counties when in it was built in the late 18th century. Today it is on the boundary of three counties, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire. Until 1931 Evenlode was a detached parish of Worcestershire which was the fourth county. This was a number of detached parishes which also included nearby Blockley and Aston Magna which became part of the county of Gloucestershire. The Stone is Grade II listed.
