SH2279 : Fortified headland at Dinas

Fortified headland at Dinas
Fortified headland at Dinas
There's an iron age promontory fort here, although to the untrained eye it is difficult to see any signs of earthworks. The headland is virtually an island, cut off from 'mainland' Holy Island by a deep chasm and a very narrow rocky band over which the tides might occasionally flow. A brief examination of the route down into the chasm and up on to the headland was enough to decide that it didn't look a good idea to explore further.
