It is remarkable that no contributor to date has mentioned that the 5-year old son of John Bright, eminent Victorian political campaigner, is buried here. JB visited the grave each year until his own death 25 years later. Ysgol John Bright, the school in the town, is named after him. The boy died of scarlet fever. According to the author Jan Morris, the boy had said to his mother the week before he caught the fever; 'oh Mama, when I am dead I want to be buried here'
