Detail of a sack hoist > LinkExternal link made by John Cooke (1821-1887) of John Cooke & Sons, agricultural implement manufacturers. John Cooke lived at Newland House in Newland Street West, Lincoln, with his wife Elizabeth and their sons John and Frank. His business was established in 1852 and by 1881 he had 36 employees. After the death of his father, Frank took over the running of the business, which in 1922 had 110 employees. After the death of Frank in 1922, the company was run by his sons Sydney Frank and Horace Noel.
