SU1069 : Avebury: view across the Beckhampton road to the south-west quadrant

Avebury: view across the Beckhampton road to the south-west quadrant
Avebury: view across the Beckhampton road to the south-west quadrant
View from the bank of the henge, just east of the southern entrance. The pinnacles of Avebury church break the skyline (above treetops) just right of centre.

The two huge stones directly in front of the camera are the only ones still standing in the south-east quadrant of the 'Great Circle'. Many more survive in the south-west quadrant, seen on the far side of the fenced-off road. The stones on the right are part of the so-called 'Southern Circle', contained within the main circle.
