Depressed footpath at spillway crossing
The complexities of land drainage frequently baffle me. This is an unusual example. There is a dry waterway crossing the footpath here, which presumably is designed to carry water in times of flood, but that does not seem to have happened recently, if at all. On the right it crosses over a water supply aqueduct via its own aqueduct, to reach Church Lammas Lakes. These seem to have an overflow route (normally dry) to the Thames. On the left after passing under the A30 and Moor Lane it connects with the Wraysbury River through a sluice. Initially I was puzzled which way flow was intended to go, but after sorting the full route out, it must be from Wraysbury River into the Thames. It is not designed for a huge flow, the depth crossing the aqueduct over the water supply channel could not be much before the aqueduct would overflow into the water supply.
