Raised bog, Tarn Moss
Raised bog, Tarn Moss
The NT has constructed a boardwalk through a small part of the bogland at the western end of Malham Tarn. This is a National Nature reserve, a SSSI and a SAC, notable for the raised bog [middle section of this photo] where peat can be several metres thick. All of this contrasts with the limestone scars of Great Close Hill in the distance.
