Redshank (Persicaria maculosa)
Redshank (Persicaria maculosa)
Redshank is a common and widespread plant frequently found growing in marshy areas, although it can also be found in dry areas where the ground has been disturbed. Generally considered a weed of cultivated land, Redshank has been used as a source of a yellowish dye. The leaves and young shoots are edible. In former times the plant was used as a medicinal herb to treat diarrhoea and infectious diseases.
