The gap created in the cliff as part of the Aldbrough underground gas storage facility made access to the beach easy and a low tide made wandering about safe. Along most of this coast the cliff face is very fragile and any paths made down to the beach soon become unsafe and new ones have to be created by those determined to access the beach.
