Bristly Ox-tongue > LinkExternal link is in a genus all on its own with its most distinctive feature being the large pimple-like glands > LinkExternal link where the bristles emerge. It can be found growing in rough grassy places especially near the sea or on clayey soils. Its scientific name refers to its former use as a treatment for internal infestations of parasitic worms, or helminths. The plant was once used as a pot herb.
