Cross Dyke near Buckham's Walls Burn
Cross Dyke near Buckham's Walls Burn
A cross dyke consisting of a bank and ditch measuring 206m in length curves across the ridge between Buckham's Walls Burn NT8210 : Valley of Buckham's Walls Burn and the River Coquet. The ridge is used by a branch of the Gammel's Path drove road and the dyke may have built to control traffic along that route. Although the actual date of the earthwork is not known, it is probably of medieval or post-medieval date.
