Charing Cross Station from the London Eye
View over the River Thames to Charing Cross Station from the London Eye. Prominent on the skyline beyond the station is the BT Tower, formerly when it was built in the 1960s it was called the Post Office Tower. When the tower was built it was at 177 metres (581 ft) the highest building in London and the UK, it remained the tallest building until 1980 when the NatWest Tower was built.
