TR0724 : Railway south of New Romney station

taken 1 year ago, near to New Romney, Kent, Great Britain

Railway south of New Romney station
Railway south of New Romney station
Looking towards Dungeness from the south end of platform 2. Just beyond the footbridge, the railway passes under Littlestone Road; the twin tunnels beneath it govern the maximum height of rolling stock on the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway. Some locomotives visiting from the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway, one of Britain's other major 15" gauge railways, have been a tight fit: "River Irt" just made it through (though some clearances were down to a quarter of an inch), but "Lady Wakefield" had its air horns knocked off.
