The Wagon Works, Eastleigh
The Wagon Works, Eastleigh
JD Wetherspoon pub/restaurant opposite Eastleigh's railway station. The name relates to Eastleigh's recent history as a railway town. The L&SWR Carriage and Wagon Works were transferred to Eastleigh in 1891 from Nine Elms in London; this was followed by the Nine Elms Locomotive Works which were moved here in 1909. These railway works were closed in 2006 but have since reopened, albeit on a smaller scale.

The pub is on the site of an eighteenth century brewhouse which became known as Ye Olde Home Tavern (later simply the Home Tavern). Dates on the gable ends of the current building suggest that it was built in the late 1880s.
