Ruins of Knocknairshill Farm
"A dwelling house and outhouses having a farm of land attached. Occupied by Alex. Scott. The property of Sir Michael Shaw Stewart" – OS Name Books (1857). Roy's Military Survey (1740s-50s) shows "Knocknairshill", other farms in the area ("Bogstoun", "Fifestoun", "Chapletoon", "Gibshill") and the nearby "Devils Glen" (present-day Devol Glen). In the same area, John Ainslie's 1796 map of Renfrew shows the farms "Knocknair", "Gibbshill", "Lurg", and "Chapleton", and "Divels Glen". "Knocknairhill" or "Knocknearshill" is found in a 1716 listing of farms in Easter Greenock.
