Black medick (Medicago lupulina)
Black Medick is widespread and common throughout the UK and Ireland except in the far north. The plant is sometimes cultivated, particularly in the Mediterranean region where it also occurs, as a source of animal fodder. Its leaves can be used as a potherb and aqueous extracts of the plant are said to have antibacterial properties against micro-organisms.
