Site of 1897 seawall breach, Bluehouse Farm, North Fambridge
The wall was breached here in the unprecedented floods of November 1897, and after some ineffectual attempts to repair during which the breach got wider and wider, finally was sealed in 1907 using an inset wall on the right curving around what is now a bay here. The camera is on a fragment of the original line which continued straight across to the far side, the remains are on the left. Behind the camera is a much larger breach which was tackled in a similar fashion.
