Skelmorlie Golf Club :: NS2067

Established in 1891, Skelmorlie golf club LinkExternal link stands on the hill above the village, which provides it with outstanding views of the Firth of Clyde. Originally a nine hole course, it was extended to 13 holes during the 1909 redesign by the renowned George Braid LinkExternal link who won The Open Championship five times.

Plans to extend the course to 18 holes were delayed by the outbreak of World War 1 and it was not until 1999 that 5 new holes were completed, thereby losing Skelmorlie the distinction of being the oldest 13 hole course in the world.
