Derby: reaching a double century
Derby: reaching a double century
On the cloudy second afternoon of a County Championship match the Nottinghamshire and England batsman Alex Hales lifted a ball from Derbyshire's Ben Cotton into the wide-open spaces at third man for four to reach 200. (You may need the larger versions of this image for the spot-the-ball competition.) Hales was out for 218 from 218 balls, with 38 fours and a six, and after a rained-off third day the visitors won by an innings and 61 runs (Derbyshire 220 and 227, Notts 508 for 9 declared).

For more of Hales' exploits during the 2017 season, see TQ2682 : Man-of-the-Match at Lord's and SK5838 : Trent Bridge: on the way to a T20 hundred.
