NO4011 : 'GOD BLESS THE JUST'

taken 1 year ago, near to Ceres, Fife, Great Britain

'GOD BLESS THE JUST'
'GOD BLESS THE JUST'
Inscribed stone above the lintel of the Weigh House in Ceres, which is now part of the Fife Folk Museum. The meaning is two-fold - as the name and design suggest it was where weights and measures were controlled, but also where miscreants were judged - there is cell in the basement, and also 'jougs' on the wall outside NO4011 : The 'jougs' at Ceres.
