View into Stoney Gill Hole
View into Stoney Gill Hole
An insignificant dry valley on the plateau top suddenly becomes a steep sided gill as it drops towards Ryedale. Typical of many such dry valleys in the area where at some time water must have carved deep valleys such as this. In the background is the long ridge of Hawnby Hill, beyond which is Easterside and then Roppa Edge.
