NO6744 : Asparagus Crop

Asparagus Crop
Asparagus Crop
The feathery plants are asparagus which has been allowed to grow naturally after the end of the season when it is young and tender enough to be eaten. Having experimented with picking one, I can vouch for the fact that the mature stems are quite tough and stringy. Compare with NO6744 : An Unusual Crop, taken two months earlier.
