Nooning Lane bridge
Nooning Lane bridge
Crossing the original Midland Counties Railway main line between Derby and Nottingham, built in 1839. The parapet was raised in 1995 for safety reasons, but otherwise the bridge is original. Listed Grade II as an example of the first phase of railway building, also making use of the newly developed skew arch principle. It is unusual for the line in being built of stone rather than brick.
