This is the main office building of the St.Vincent's Works (a.k.a. Lysaght's Castle), that has been jokingly referred to as “in Ruritanian Romanesque” style. It is Grade II-listed and it made headlines news in the UK in 2006 when an attached warehouse - out of view & on the left of this castellated section - was destroyed in a fire. Aardman Animations kept props and film sets associated with the Wallace and Gromit films in that particular warehouse, many of which were destroyed. In fact it is an example of a variety of Byzantine Revival architecture that was popular in the city of Bristol from 1850-80. In addition, this so-called “Bristol Byzantine” building is reported to contain many attractive internal features. Most recently the untouched part of the building was the head office of the renewable energy consultancy GL Garrad Hassan. Pedestrians continuing along Silverthorne Lane can reach Temple Meads Railway Station within 10 minutes.
