A 250 year old fruit producing mulberry tree in the central part of the garden. There are two of them flanking the Broad Walk (the main path). When the Ellis family came to live here, Eliza Ellis apparently wrote: "the old mulberry trees supported (i.e. propped up) even in 1845, were still in their pride of venerable vigour and they became at once objects of loving care."
