Maid of the Loch
Maid of the Loch

The Maid of the Loch was the last paddle steamer to be built in the UK. She was launched on Loch Lomond on Thursday 5th March 1953. Licensed to carry 1,000 passengers, she was the largest paddle steamer to sail Loch Lomond. Decommissioned in 1981, she was subjected to a period of neglect, decay and vandalism until her purchase, in 1992, by Dumbarton District Council. In 1996, the Loch Lomond Steamship Company (LLSC) launched an ambitious rescue mission and it is hoped she will sail again in 2018. LinkExternal link
