Volley fire
The 1745 Jacobite Rebellion was defeated by the Hanoverian forces led by the Duke of Cumberland at Culloden. The infantry would be expected to fire up to three rounds per minute through the smoke of battle. Accuracy with the smooth bore barrels was poor but made up for by the massed ranks on both sides.
