NT2955 : Former Upperside Quarry

taken 12 months ago, 4 km from Temple, Midlothian, Great Britain

Former Upperside Quarry
Former Upperside Quarry
The Scottish Water sign gives a waste management licence number, so presumably this was once used for landfill, but is now closed.

Several small quarries in the area are shown on the 1854 OS 6" Edinburghshire sheet 18, marked as limestone quarries and presumably used to feed the limekilns a short distance south of the road junction.
