Gladdon or stinking iris flower with ants, Churchland Lane
Note the two ants on this rather complicated flower of gladdon (Iris foetidissima). They are possibly important elements in pollinating the plants which seldom seem to be visited by flying insects. Gladdon is a native species widespread in England and parts of Wales and Scotland.
