Old and New Trams at North Pier

Blackpool Corporation’s high capacity, double-decker “balloon trams” of the type exemplified by number 717 on the left were a familiar sight on the Blackpool Tramway up until the 2011 system upgrade. Now used to give “heritage tours”, they have been replaced on regular services by the single decker Bombardier trams such as 007 on the right. Both trams were at the North Pier tram stop when this photograph was taken.
