Blists Hill Victorian Town - gallopers
Blists Hill Victorian Town - gallopers
These steam gallopers were actually running on an electric motor although the driver was opening the steam valve on the centre engine - which was actually not turning. The electric switch gear was positively antediluvian and appeared to include an open contact knife switch and a rotary rheostat. This was a special steam weekend so it's a pity the gallopers were not in steam.

This a three abreast set built in 1911 by Thomas Walker of Tewkesbury for Frank Wilson. The original Walker centre engine was replaced in 1966 by the current Savage of King's Lynn engine that is No. 573 of 1893. The small organ engine is No. 579.
