Salmon departs from Milton of Crathes station
Salmon departs from Milton of Crathes station
The steam locomotive Salmon departs from Milton of Crathes station on the Royal Deeside Railway pushing several carriages to Birkenbaud, one mile away from where it will return to Crathes. The locomotive was manufactured in Kilmarnock in 1942 by local engine builders Andrew Barclay and Sons. It was named SALMON in memory of HMS Salmon, an S-Class submarine which was lost with all hands in July 1940.
