TL5378 : The route of Ely Southern Bypass

The route of Ely Southern Bypass
The route of Ely Southern Bypass
The Cambridge-Ely train I was travelling on was held for a minute or two at Ely Dock Junction, waiting for an Ipswich train to clear Platform 3. The carriage window was reasonably clean so I could compose this picture of where bridges will carry the bypass over the railway. For more about the bypass, and a map, see LinkExternal link .

The bypass will benefit the railway, reducing the amount of heavy traffic needing to use the level crossing north of Ely Station.
