Long Meg and Her Daughters
Long Meg and Her Daughters
Long Meg and Her Daughters is a Bronze Age stone circle of diameter about 350 feet and approximately 9 miles north-east of Penrith. Long Meg is 12 feet in height. Her daughters comprise a detached stone circle with 27 stones still standing. Probably dating from about 1500 BC, Long Meg is made of red sandstone and the daughters are boulders of rhyolite, a form of granite.
