Conlig lead mines

Between the late 18thc and 1900 a total of 13 mines at Whitespots produced more than 13.9 thousand tonnes of lead. This made them the most important group of ore mines in Ireland. The lead was mined from veins intruded into the Silurian country rocks.LinkExternal link

The mining area has now been made into a country park.
