Together with development partner Associated British Ports, Siemens is investing in offshore wind turbine production at Alexandra Dock. In the foreground, east of the Holderness Drain, Aster tripolium (sea aster) in bloom.

In 2011, Siemens Gamesa and Associated British Ports signed a memorandum of understanding concerning the construction of a wind energy machine manufacturing plant at Alexandra Dock. The factory was formally inaugurated on 1 December 2016. Siemens Gamesa submitted plans in February 2021 to double the size of its wind turbine blade manufacturing facility in the city in a move that could support the creation of hundreds of jobs.
