Lamphey Bishop's Palace
Lamphey Bishop’s Palace is an extensive ruin to the north of Lamphey village. It is a scheduled ancient monument and grade I listed building. Most of what is now visible was constructed under Henry de Gower, a 14th century Bishop of St David's. It was intended for the use of high ranking clergy and would have been an opulent place in its heyday, the centrepiece being the 82 foot long great hall. The palace was handed over to the crown in 1546 during the reign of Henry VIII and subsequently fell into decline; it may have been used later as a farm.
