With the site scheduled for closure and redevelopment, 2 September 2017 was scheduled to be the last open day at the former Great Western Railway Old Oak Common depot. Long given over to modern diesel traction, this final event included many representatives of the various forms of traction which worked the old Great Western lines down the years.

Steam locomotive 1501 is an 0.6.0T heavy shunting locomotive, designed by F W Hawksworth but introduced in 1949 after the GWR had been absorbed into British Railways.
