Fishing in the Nottingham Canal
Fishing in the Nottingham Canal
Bridges on the canal are numbered, starting from the Trent. Bridge 2 was built to serve the Great Northern Railway's London Road Station (now a health club), part of which shows on the left beyond the bridge. The picture was taken from the remains of the bridge abutments which carried the line from Weekday Cross Junction to London Road (High Level) station - long demolished - and on to Grantham. Rainclouds were clearing on a September afternoon, so this couple should have enjoyed the rest of a sunny afternoon.
