Wakerley Bridge, Barrowden Road, Wakerley
Probably 14th century Grade II Listed bridge also a Scheduled Ancient Monument. In 1472 William Edgosse of Bulwick bequeathed 6s. 5d.(32p) for the maintenance of this bridge and the bridges of Thyrpul, Harringworth and Bulwick. The bridge was widened in 1793 by Thomas Swan giving different arch shapes on the upstream from the downstream. Further repairs were made in 1843. The spans vary from 9ft 10in (3m) to 11ft 4in (3.4m). The piers are 6ft (1.8m) wide and the bridge is 81ft (24.7m) long. The 1793 work added 2ft (0.6m) to the bridge's width to make the present dimension of 12ft (3.7m) between the stone parapets.
