NY8500 : Birth of the River Swale

taken 7 years ago, 3 km from Ravenseat, North Yorkshire, England

Birth of the River Swale
Birth of the River Swale
Coming in top right is Great Sleddale Beck, bottom right Birkdale Beck and in the mix it becomes the River Swale. This is in the middle of nowhere so we are going on to Kirkby Stephen. The new guide book, The Swale Way by Stuart Greig published July 2017. Starts at Boroughbridge and finishes at Kirkby Stephen 77 miles. A flat start but to have the peat bogs of Nine Standards Rigg on the last day makes an interesting walk of extremes with battlefields and history all along the way.
