NO2627 : Inchmartine Standing Stone (5)

taken 7 years ago, near to Craigdallie, Perth And Kinross, Scotland

Inchmartine Standing Stone (5)
Inchmartine Standing Stone (5)
Having walked along the pavement andturned into the drive to the caravan park, it was easy to walk across the field to the stone. It seems to have no cup marks or other notable features, and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historic Monuments of Scotland is even a bit non-committal as to whether it is or is not prehistoric. See LinkExternal link for details. RCAHMS errs, however, stating that it is granite. It has a definite metamorphic fabric, and may be pelitic. I the background is the A90 dual carriageway.
