SP0686 : Spirit of Enterprise

taken 12 years ago, near to Birmingham, Great Britain

Spirit of Enterprise
Spirit of Enterprise
This work by Tom Lomax is a reference to Birmingham's motto.

The sculpture has three bronze dishes supporting heads that are representing Commerce, Industry, and Enterprise.

Behind, above the globe, is the “Flame of Hope” beacon which was the centrepiece of the millennium celebrations for the city and which was lit by Cliff Richard. Unfortunately problems over who should pay the gas bill has resulted in the flame being turned off. Well at least it's not contributing to global warming!
