Hillfort on Sinkside Hill
Hillfort on Sinkside Hill
The stone structure in the foreground forms part of the ramparts of an Iron Age Hillfort which until recently was almost totally surrounded by conifers. Since the photograph at LinkExternal link was taken the conifers on and to the west of the summit have been felled giving a slightly better view of the surrounding area. The prominent conical shaped hill in the mid distance is part of Blackhaggs Rigg and is itself the site of an Iron Age Hillfort.
