This is a Kerr Stuart & Co standard 'Wren' class 0-4-0ST built in 1922 to works No. 4256. The cylinders are 6" x 9" with Hackworth valve gear. Tractive effort is 1701 lbs and it weighs 4.25 tons. It was built for R H Neal & Co for use by Muirhead, McDonald, Wilson & Co on the Southend Arterial Road. It was later owned by Devon County Council and used at Beacon Down Quarry, Parracombe. In service until 2016, it is now receiving a new boiler and saddle tank - seen here fitted temporarily for the steam gala.
