Leighton Buzzard Railway - Penlee
Leighton Buzzard Railway - Penlee
This locomotive is definitely 'stuffed and mounted' and used to allow children (of all ages)on the footplate for photo opportunities. The guide states that it is 'Berlin' formerly 'Penlee' but the name on the cabside is clearly 'Penlee'. It is 0-4-0WT built in 1901 as works No. 73 by Stahlbahnwerke Freudenstein AG of Templehof, Berlin. It worked for its entire working life at Penlee Quarry, Newlyn, Cornwall. This laid claim to being the furthest west railway in England. The driver wore a bowler hat.
