Borough Flour Mills
Borough Flour Mills
The Victorian flour mill built in 1865 ceased production in 2006. The machinery went under the hammer in 2013 comprising a full working mill with roller mills, sifters, packing equipment, conveyer belts, silos and weighbridges. Associated buildings on the town side of the Mill Avon will be demolished or converted as riverside flats. The mill buildings are proposed for mixed use development. Flour was imported via Avonmouth, Gloucester or Sharpness direct to the mill. Efficient steam powered roller mills like this replaced the smaller scale local stone ground mills.
